Just an hour away from EcoCamp lie some of the region’s most pristine rivers, home to chinook salmon, rainbow trout, and more, and surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Paine Massif and the pampas of Patagonia - the ideal setting for this relaxing natural sport.
EcoCamp Extension
Your day begins early with a pickup from EcoCamp, taking you and a local fishing expert to a spot that matches your skill level.
After a brief on your destination, you'll head to the site, passing the stunning Laguna Esmeralda and Laguna Escondida, teeming with unique wildlife. At the fishing location, your instructor will overview the area's ecological makeup before you start fishing in the pristine waters of Torres del Paine, abundant with high-quality fish like rainbow trout and chinook salmon. Following a morning of fishing, you'll move to another spot for varied catches.
The 7-8 hour adventure finishes with a return to EcoCamp for dinner.
Overnight at Ecocamp Patagonia.
Ecocamp Patagonia is located in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, with a unique view of the majestic granite towers. The region’s first fully sustainable accommodation south of the Amazon and the first of its kind in the Patagonian wilderness, EcoCamp offers upscale camping in geodesic domes inspired by the region’s ancient nomadic inhabitants.
Suite domes were designed to further our goal of providing comfort in a natural setting with minimal environmental impact, and also maintain the hotel’s familiar and cozy vibe. The domes have comfortable double or twin beds, a wood stove and a private bathroom with a state-of-the-art composting toilet.
Suite dome lofts are two-storey domes which fit up to four people and have comfortable double or twin beds both up and downstairs. These domes, ideal for families or groups of friends, come with a wood stove, a private terrace and a private bathroom with a state-of-the-art composting toilet.
Spacious, comfortable and equipped with private bathrooms, Superior Domes are the optimum choice for trekkers wanting that bit more space and comfort at the end of a long day’s walk. Each Superior Dome has comfortable queen-size or twin beds, a propane heater, skylight windows and a private bathroom with a sophisticated composting toilet
EcoCamp Standard domes were the world's first lodge accommodation in geodesic shape. They are resistant to the strong Patagonian winds, and come equipped with two single beds (doubles on request), cozy fleece blankets and feather quilts. There are windows in the ceiling for stargazing. Standard domes include shared bathrooms which are large, comfortable and gender divided.
* If the minimum required is not reached, additional costs will apply.

EcoCamp Extensions are excursions you can book in addition to our regular EcoCamp programs, to enhance your Patagonian experience. These tours can take place before or after your main program but we strongly recommend doing them afterward to maximize your arrival experience at EcoCamp with your fellow trekking/Safari group members. Transport in and out of the park is not included as these services are covered by your regular program with EcoCamp. If you wish to book an EcoCamp Extension without any other EcoCamp program please contact us so we can give you a quote.
The trip starts and ends at Ecocamp Patagonia.
This trip does not demand physical activity other than standing up fishing and casting the fishing reel.
Transport during excursions in small vans.
The vast unbroken stretch of ocean to the west and south of the South American continent leaves the Patagonian Andes very exposed to the saturated winds that circle the Antarctic landmass. Also, both the strong marine and the South Patagonic Ice field influence make the weather hard to predict. In spring or early summer, fine weather may deteriorate almost without warning, bringing rains and eventually snow. Even in summer (December to March) you should come prepared to find cold- strong winds (up to 130 km/hr) and rainfalls. The summer’s average temperature is 11ºC/52ºF (24ºC max, 2ºC min).
All fishing gear is provided - fishing boots, rod, reel, lines, fly bait. You just need to bring appropriate clothes to wear fishing.
We reserve the right to change the order of the days in any itinerary at the discretion of the trip guide and based on operational considerations. The trip guide can modify, change or eliminate part of the itinerary based on safety/weather considerations.
