Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Puerto Williams

Puerto Williams, Chile

We’ll start the trip by flying from Punta Arenas to the small town of Puerto Williams*. At the end of the day we will enjoy a nice meal and have a briefing about the next day’s trekking excursion. You can ask your guide about visiting the OMORA Ethnobotanical Park to experience “magnifying glass tourism,” a new venture that opens up the world of miniature lichens, moss and bryophyte forests.

Day 2: Start of the Trekking Adventure

Navarino Island, Chile

Let the adventure begin! Today we'll start the Dientes Circuit and take in amazing views of the Beagle Channel and Puerto Williams as we walk towards the Salto Lagoon. Depending on the weather conditions, we will either tackle the high-end slope of the Robalo Valley or move along the back of the valley. Either way, the landscape is unreal and we'll get to the night’s camping spot in time for a warm dinner.

Day 3: Crossing the Dientes de Navarino Cordillera

Navarino Island, Chile

On day two, we’ll cross the Dientes de Navarino Cordillera while enjoying the breathtaking views of Nassau Bay and Wollaston islands, both part of the fabled Cape Horn. After passing by several scenic lakes, we'll climb Ventarron path (696 mts) for an incredible view of the Dientes de Navarino mountain peaks and across to Mount Codrington. Get your cameras ready! We will then continue to enjoy the landscape while on the way to Laguna Martillo, our second camping site.

Day 4: Guerrico Valley

Navarino Island, Chile

After a good night's rest, we'll grab our packs and continue to Guerrico Valley, walking through beautiful forests that reward us with amazing views of Montes Lindenmayer peak. We will then climb Virginia pass (860 mts high), taking in the incredible views across the sea of Tierra del Fuego. We will then reach the campsite in time to dine and rest.

Day 5: Last Day of Excursion and Well-deserved rest

Puerto Williams, Chile

Today is our last day of walking and it’s a downhill jaunt toward the ocean. We’ll reach Errante Lodge in time to enjoy a nice lunch and then have the rest of the day to rest, walk around the village and share stories about your experience trekking the southernmost circuit in the world. Dinner will be waiting for you at the lodge at the end of the day.

Day 6: Adiós Navarino!

Puerto Williams, Chile

After breakfast, it’s time to say “adiós” to Navarino Island! We’ll depart on a short flight out of Puerto Williams and return to Punta Arenas.

Errante is an ecological refuge at the end of the world. Built by its owners' hands, this small and charming lodge has great views to the Beagle Channel.

Physical demands

This trip is suitable for skilled trekkers in excellent physical condition. The trek passes through uneven terrain and  high water marks: 100 – 800 – 515 – 700 – 510 – 575 – 420 – 830 – 0 meters above sea level.

Due to rough weather conditions, the level of difficulty could increase as there is no forest protection.

* This trip is not available for children under 12 years old.

Weather

The climate of Puerto Williams is a temperate, sub-polar oceanic climate. The summers are short and cool while the winters are long and wet, but moderate. Rainfall is around 512.3 mm (20 inches) a year and temperatures are steady throughout the year. Snowfall can occur in summer. Regions in the world with similar climates to southern Tierra del Fuego include the Alexander Archipelago around Sitka in Alaska, Scotland and the coast of Norway.
